Next Monday, on April 8, 2024, parts of Texas will experience a total solar eclipse.  McMullen County ISD has purchased certified eclipse viewing glasses for all students at MCISD.  While the view from McMullen County will not be a total solar eclipse we will still be close enough to experience some of the eclipse.  As these events are rare on our part of the Earth, the district would like for students in 1st through 12th grade to be able to view the eclipse using the glasses we provide.  

Parents of students in 1st through 12th grade will have the opportunity to opt their child out of this activity if you have concerns about the safety of your child during this event.  If you do not want your child to participate in the eclipse viewing exercise, please email macker@mcisd.us by 9:00 am Monday, April 8, 2024, with your child’s name, grade, and the words “opt out.”  We will have an alternative activity for your child.

This message is to notify our parents that today MCISD had an Intruder in the Building Drill at 2:00 pm as part of our efforts to ensure campus safety and readiness. Throughout the year, MCISD conducts drills to strengthen our safety measures and address weaknesses that may be identified.  We are pleased with the performance of our staff and students during today’s drill.

Feb. 1, 2024

Out of an abundance of caution, MCISD will close school Fri. Feb. 2, to allow our custodial staff to thoroughly clean our district facilities and buses. We ask all our families to take precautions to help slow the spread of the sickness. All extracurricular activities will continue as scheduled.

Out of an abundance of caution we will have a delayed start tomorrow. Classes will start at 10am and buses will run 2 hours later than normal time.

MCISD is dismissing at 12:15. MCISD is experiencing technical issues with our fire alarm system that is prohibiting our ability to teach and students to learn. Alarms have been going off every 10 minutes since 8 am this morning. We have technicians coming this afternoon to fix the issue.

Tomorrow, Dec. 6, is the Elementary and Jr High Academic UIL competition. Only students who are working or participating at the meet will come to school. School buses will only pick up participants and workers for tomorrow's academic UIL meet.

School is canceled for Friday, Nov. 1,0 due to the girls Regional Volleyball game, 3 pm at Brenham High School. Go support our Cowgirls in the Regional Volleyball Tournament.
