The varsity McMullen County Cowgirls cross country team competed at the state meet in Round Rock on Saturday, Nov. 3, marking the first state appearance in program’s history, qualifying by virtue of finishing third place as a team in Region IV.
Junior Caeli Taylor was the Cowgirls’ top finisher, finishing with an eighth place medal.
“Caeli had a great year, coming back from an injury and being the District 32-A champion, Region IV champion, and qualifying for state for the third year in a row,” coach Tony Taylor said. “The Cowgirls are young, with four freshmen and a good eighth grade group coming up.”
The 2018 Cowgirls cross country roster also consisted of Chloe Taylor, Ashley Miller, Makenzie Sherrer, Bailey Garcia and Charity Harris.
