Thank you for taking the time to explore McMullen County ISD website and see everything that makes us unique!  MCISD has a strong tradition of excellence and strives for perfection in all we do. Academically, our students perform very high on state mandated assessments but more importantly, they are learning relevant academics that prepare them for future careers.  Also, our students are very competitive and achieve high accolades among their peers statewide, in extracurricular activities. I encourage you to browse our website in depth and give us a call if you are interested in looking a little deeper into MCISD!

Let me introduce my family! We are extremely excited to be a part of McMullen County ISD and the community.  We come to MCISD from central Texas where I have been Superintendent for 4 years. Prior to living in central Texas, my wife Shannon and I were both raised in North Texas.  We are blessed with our son Jared and daughter Jayden. Also, as you can see pictured, Kira, who was our foreign exchange student from Germany and has become an extension of our family.

Here’s a little of my background!  Both of my parents are retired educators, so education has always been at the forefront in my life.  I followed their footsteps and have enjoyed watching students learn for almost 20 years. I attended Texas A&M University-Commerce and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration.  Also, I completed my Superintendent Certification at The University of Texas-Tyler.

Thank you for visiting the MCISD website.  If you ever have any questions about MCISD, please feel free to reach out.

Timms FamilyJoe Timms, Principal

Welcome to McMullen County ISD schools, proud home of the Cowboys and Cowgirls. Let me begin by saying I am thrilled to be the principal of MCISD.   As the principal, I am looking forward to working with the students, teachers, parents, and community members to ensure our students have the best education in the State of Texas.

I come to McMullen County with my wife Stephanie and our two sons, Brandon and Joseph.  Stephanie and I are both natives of Luling, Texas, and are both graduates of Texas A&M University.  I have been in public education for fifteen years serving as an English and history teacher, as well as an elementary Dean of Students, Jr. High Assistant Principal, and finally as a High School Principal.

Upon visiting MCISD, my wife and I were both struck by the school and community's commitment to excellence in education.  McMullen County ISD has a long history of excellence in academics, athletics, and career preparedness.  With this is in mind, it is my primary goal to ensure that we meet the challenges of the future with innovative strategies that honor the past and ready our students for an exciting tomorrow.

I encourage you to be an active participant in your child’s education.  Visit with your child’s teacher on a regular basis.  Reinforce skills taught at school at home.  Make sure your child is in school on time every day, all day.  We must work as partners to make certain your child achieves mastery in all subject areas to insure your child is a successful, life-long learner.

In closing, remember my door is always open.  I’m looking forward to a great and successful school year.

  Joe Timms
