In compliance with Texas Senate Bill 12 (SB 12), MCISD is committed to strengthening the partnership between the home and the school by providing dedicated mechanisms for parental input.

This notice outlines the procedure for submitting comments to school and district administration, as well as the Board of Trustees, and clarifies the requirements for your submission.

Mandatory Submission Requirements for Email Comments

When utilizing the official email or internet portal mechanism designated for submitting comments to the administration or School Board, please be advised of the following mandatory requirements:

1. Parent Identification: Your email submission must include your full legal name.

2. Student Identification: Your email submission must include the full legal name of your child(ren) who is/are enrolled in MCISD.

Reasoning: Including both names is necessary to verify your parent/guardian relationship with an enrolled student, ensuring your comment can be properly documented, and addressed in accordance with district policy and state law.

Protection of Student Privacy (FERPA Compliance)

Please be aware of the following policy regarding public communications:

To comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and protect the privacy rights of all students, MCISD will not publicly read or acknowledge comments that contain personally identifiable information (PII) related to a specific student's record. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Specific details of a child’s health, discipline, or academic performance.

• Comments that discuss another identifiable student.

If a comment is submitted that references private student information, the Board or administration will address the concern privately with the parent through the district’s established communication channels, rather than reading the comment aloud in a public meeting.
